Frozen pork breakfast sausage... how solid should I expect it to be when frozen?
At 8:45 tonight I bought a 3-inch thick tube of frozen breakfast sausage (basically seasoned fatty ground pork). It was in a freezer chest in the store, and seemed totally frozen.
It's been in transit / sitting on the counter in my warm kitchen for an hour. I'm about to brown it up... just unwrapped it and discovered it's soft enough that I can stab it all the way through with a knife.
Does that mean it wasn't frozen enough in the store? Or did it just thaw fast because it's so fatty?
Metafilter- SHOULD I EAT THIS THING?

Response by poster: Update: it didn't kill us with food poisoning; arteries might be a different story.

Best answer: Biscuits & sausage gravy?
I'm glad you lived, but not surprised.
