remind me what I was going to put pickled okra on top of

A couple weeks ago I was looking up a recipe for a main course and it included a suggestion to top the finished dish with slices of pickled okra. "Well now," I thought, "that sounds interesting." Anyway I have completely forgotten what the recipe was, where I found it, or any identifying details at all. So I submit the question to you, AskMe: what are some good dishes to top with slices of pickled okra?

The obvious answer would be gumbo or red beans and rice, but I'm assuming you've already thought of those.

My sweetheart has been putting finely chopped pickled vegetables from the Persian deli down the street (which is to say, not giardiniara but close) in salads a lot lately. It's not primarily okra, but includes it and is surprisingly delicious along with a creamy yogurt- or tahini-based dressing.

Hummus?

I got that with a bit of searching around - my initial thought was clearly bloody marys.

It's good on top of deviled eggs.

The subspecies of nachos that you make with pickled jalapeƱo slices would be awesome if you swapped some of the jalapeƱos out for pickled okra.

1. I love this question.

2. I bet it would be good on top of a sweet corn chowder, maybe with some bacon bits as well.

A martini, instead of an olive?

I'd eat it on ramen, nachos, sandwiches, and probably almost anything with pork or rice.

I made two quarts of simple refrigerator pickles with cauliflower, red bell pepper, carrot ribbons, celery, cucumber, and jalapeno. I've been eating it on everything. Chopped finely on tacos is great! Just had it with a bowl of potato/egg salad.
