Best Burt's Bees replacement that won't melt in my hot car

I love Burt's Bees lip balm (the peppermint flavor) and keep a tube of it in my car. This is great in the winter, and less good in the summer, because I inevitably forget to remove it and all the lip balm melts, seeps out of the tube, and makes my car all greasy. What are good substitutes that won't melt (or if they do melt, are in a container that won't make a mess?) I am looking specifically for things that give that good minty (not menthol; no Carmex, plz) tingle.

Any small or pretty small tin, like mini-altoids. Scrape it in to the tin, 1st time you leave it in the sun, it will smooth out.

If you can live with their OG lip balm in your car, Burt's Bees makes a tin version.

Ugh, sorry -- just saw the 'minty tingle' bit. Use theora55's method to put the peppermint variant into the metal tin?

Everything will melt, because they’re designed to melt upon contact with body heat in your lips. So yeah, look for something in a tin. And any lip balm should melt in a few seconds in the microwave, and could then be poured into a tin.

Best answer: Possibly a tube one like Jack Black Mint and Shea Butter? (I have not tried this brand myself.)
Otherwise, yes, you can melt and re-pot lip products.

The one myotahpea linked originally IS the peppermint version, that's their default, just FYI, so yeah, if a tin's going to work for you, that's all you need to find.

How about Rosebud Lip Balm in Minted Rose? I haven't tried this flavor but Rosebud lip balms don't seem to melt that easily.

Forgot to say: If it melts, just put the tin in the fridge for a while. I often make my own balms in tins and I harden them up fast this way.

If your willing to buy a carmex to remove said carmex and put burtsbees into it, it will work. My carmex has survived my washing machine and drier.

Be forewarned, it can get super hot. Do not apply when it is the temperature of your summer car.

Just buy the burts bees tin version. It's survived my washer/drier multiple times, so I'm sure it'd be fine in a hot car.

Best answer: Seconding Crystalline -- my go-to lip balm is the Jack Black Grapefruit and Ginger, it never leaks, and I passed on the mint version because I didn't like that tingle. (Jack Black balm also offers sun protection, unlike Burt's, which might be welcome in the summer.)

Response by poster: Marking the tube suggestions as best answers, since a tin full of liquid chapstick is unwieldy to use one-handed while driving. I bought the mint version of the Jack Black and it gets the job done. Thanks, all!
