Do you recognize this (1950s? cartoon?) character?

Who is this character? It looks to be from a 1950s animation, and seems very familiar. A reverse image search and Googling various phrases isn't working. (For me, anyway.)

(Context: I don't have much context. It was sent to me by a friend who thought I might know, and I don't know how they came across it. And now it's made me curious as well.)

Best answer: This came up on the Whatisthisthing subreddit just a couple of days ago: Here is a link to the comment thread that identified him. He's a character from an old Disneyland attraction.

Response by poster: Ha ha! Maybe that was the context. We’ve come full circle.

Evidently the character (from "The World Beneath Us," a Disneyland attraction from 1955 to 1960) had no name other than "Mr. Professor."
