Any recommendations for a good shoe repair place in New York, either East Village or near Fourteenth Street?

I need to get the zipper on my boot replaced or repaired, the quicker the better.

Village Shoe Repair, on University Place around 11th Street, resoled my favorite boots in a day.

Best answer: There's that guy on St. Marks, just off the corner of 3rd Ave--you know the one--he specializes in putting giant platforms on shoes--he's decent and fast. You mentioned once you live on the L train, right? At the Bedford stop, literally at the top of the stairs is a shoe repair place that I think is particularly top-notch. Much cheaper than Manhattan, too.

There's a small shop on Bleecker between Broadway and Lafayette, by the Bleecker stop on the 6.

I've had good luck with the guy on E. 10th street, just across from St. Marks Church.

I've had excellent service at Mercer Shoe Repair, 295 Mercer just north of 8th Street. Good luck!

Response by poster: Thanks everyone. I had totally forgotten about the place on Bedford.
