ISO plus sized evening dress in Barcelona

I find myself needing to buy an evening dress (below the knee, shoulders covered) in Barcelona tomorrow. The catch: I am around size 16 US and do not relish spending lots of time in stores that will not have anything that fits me. We are staying in Gracia and do not have a car. I'd prefer something within that neighborhood if possible, though metro and cab are ok if needed. Recommendations as to where to shop?

Please include metro stop info if relevant. Bonus if I can also get shoes (42 European, haven't bought American shoes in a while).

I can't guarantee they will have what you are looking for, but the first thing that came to my mind is the giant department store, El Cortes Ingles--the giant main one in Placa Catalunya. Their website offers clothes plus sizes; I don't know about the store itself, but it's huge. The nearest metro stop is Catalunya.

Is there a nice hotel anywhere near where you are staying? Perhaps the concierge can offer good advice.

Best answer: The Spanish fast fashion chain, Mango, has a plus-size line called Violeta. It's all pretty affordable and they have shoes, too. I would look for a Mango.

Response by poster: Thank you for your answers. It turns out there is a whole Violeta Mango store less than a mile from where we are staying. A very friendly saleswoman helped via her broken English and my broken Spanish, and I ended up with an appropriate outfit as well as shoes, a purse, and a bonus dress that fits perfectly but is alas slightly above the knees so won't do for this particular event. Success!
