"Bigfoot" and "THUMBelina" are unacceptable.

Help name this sweet many-toed kitten!

My parents adopted two friendly female kittens: Soxy and her sister. Sister has extra toes and is friendly and curious, with a quiet purr. (Soxy is also friendly and curious but has a serious rumble-purr.) Both are black but with faint tabby-like stripes. Sister is currently going by Pawsy or Smokey and needs a real name before she gets stuck with something uninspiring.

Some cuteness is desired but precious names will be vetoed, and the occasional food name is acceptable. They generally do not go for human or character names, though they might accept the name of an oldies country singer. My mom is an enthusiastic reader but has never named a pet after an author or character. Current cats are Ladybug, Biscuit, and Bonnet, and previous cats were Raisin, Liesel, Echo, Pistol, Athena, Panther, Lion, Checkers, Moonbeam, and Ace. (That sounds like an alarming number of cats but they live on a farm and have at least 3 at a time.)

I suggested Lynx but was voted down.

Bonus cat picture: my 10 month matched tabby pair, Janeway and Bearcat.

Response by poster: Also if anyone has a better name for Soxy, I'd love to hear it!

Best answer: Polly (for polydactyl)

Soxy could be Tux and sister could be Tails. Tux and Tails.

I think maybe sister should be called Sister or Sissy. If you don't like that, her solid black coloring makes me think of a body suit. I would totally call her Body.

Addams, after the Addams family.

In the movie, Gomez says that the combination to something (a safe?) is 2-10-11. Eyes, fingers, toes. She has extra toes, so she's clearly an Addams.

I came to suggest Sister or Sissy too, I think that's just the right amount of precious. Other ideas: Boop (gonna keep suggesting that one until I'm in the grave), Hat Tip or Hattie for short, Brilliantine, or Sassafras.

Pinkie would be a sweet name for a black cat who has extras. Or Little Piggie. Say it with the right Sesame Street accent and "count these" can almost become Contessa - - Tess for short, of course.

And sexy Soxy with the rumbling deep voice? My mind goes right to Cher.

Digit! You know, because she has extra toes and it's kind of a cute name. The sister could be Gidget, for rhyming fun times.

Monster. Then you can dance around the house with her in your arms singing "The Monster Mash" while she plots ways to kill you. But she plots adorably.

Came here to say Polly. Already said. Thus: seconded.

With more toes, she's clearly Soxier.

Ernest Hemingway owned numerous polydactyl cats. Maybe something related to him?

Well, clearly if the one with socks is Soxy (which I love), then the one with all the toes is Tozy.

I'm torn between Polly and Sasquatch / Sassy.

Because that there is going to be a FLUFFY CAT. All those wispy bits will fill in and you will have yourself a polydactyl fluff-monster on hand. Proper sasquatch.

I'm going to suggest LOLcat because that's what I would want to name a cat, but I just don't think my immediate future involves any kitties (dogs only). So, feel free to name her LOLcat if you like. Or anybody! LOLcat up for grabs!

My aunt and uncle always have polydactyl cats and every single one of them has been Sims ( think they're on Sims the Fourth right now), short for simian.

Even though she's female, I would name her Inigo Montoya, who searched for the six fingered man.

Their names are Bobbie (Sox) and Penny (Loafer).

Seconding Digit. My favorite friendly neighborhood polydactyl is named Digit.

They look like Soxy and Sissy to me.

However, if the tuxedo kitten has white back feet to match her white front feet, she could be Boots and the polydactyl kitten could be Mittens.

That is one top-notch pair of catsisters.
