I'm interested in how provinces in Canada differ politically as it relates to crime (in particular, youth crime).
I'm new to Atlantic Canada and I'm interested in knowing how this region, in particular, Nova Scotia, deals with and perceives crime and youth crime.

For instance, Quebec is known for becoming increasingly more liberal after confederation and has used tactics like diversion and other rehab. methods to deal with young offenders long before the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). Ontario, on the other hand, has known to be more conservative and 'tough on crime.' I remember Ontario used to be referred to as the 'big blue machine' or something like that b/c of it's political leanings with regards to crime control.
