Car accident: Same insurance as other driver..... and same investigator?

I was involved in a sideswipe accident on the freeway yesterday. It turns out the the other driver and I both have Progressive Insurance. I spoke with the investigator today, and apparently she is also acting as the investigator for the other driver. My Google searches about this have turned up a lot of mentions of 'conflict of interest', and that it probably isn't great for the customer. What should I watch out for? Should I request a second investigator (I feel like that would be rocking the boat quite a bit....)? Is this actually allowed? Any and all info is greatly appreciated - this is my first auto incident. Thanks!

Working in insurance, that is... strange. You are well within your rights to request different investigators.

Best answer: Different investigators, and don't hesitate to have a lawyer look at whatever the insurance offers you/wants from you.

Insurance companies don't make money by paying claims.
