Chicago! I need your help finding a location for a photo shoot!
I need some suggestions on a location in Chicago to do an indoor photo shoot. Normally, a hotel room/suite would be fine, but I don't really know Chicago hotels and which ones might have the prettiest/nicest/most interesting decor (i.e. not looking for a business hotel).
OR, if you know of any non-hotel places that can be rented for photoshoots, please let me know those as well. The one that I have so far is this one, which is beautiful but maybe a little busy (decor-wise) for what I'm looking for. Although they do have costume/prop rental, which is a big plus (but not a necessity).
Finally, if anyone knows any great makeup artists in the area, that would also be helpful. Thank you!

Well what are you into? Chicago has a lot of really neat little boutique hotels. There are five Kimpton hotels in Chicago, all of them have different looks. The Dana Hotel is neat and has showers with big glass walls that open directly to the rooms, which could be cool depending on what kind of photoshoot you're planning on. The Acme hotel would be good for something with a more playful vibe. Many of these places have lounge areas that could also be good for photoshoots, so it's definitely worth calling the places directly and asking about options.

Best answer: Klimpton operates 5 hotels in Chicago--they do interesting things with the interiors of their hotels (Jinx!) . The Chicago Athletic Association is newly turned into a hotel--I've not been in any of the rooms, but the public spaces are wonderful.

Best answer: I don't know how expensive it is to rent out, but Salvage One is probably the coolest place, aesthetically speaking, in the city. It's hard to explain. Sort of a giant rummage sale, but they only collect interesting vintage stuff. There's a big gazebo indoors, pieces of metal from old farm equipment, fancy old furniture, weird knick knacks, church pews, boats hung up on the walls.

A lot of places now have a Google inside streetview, here is Architectural Artifacts Inc, and here is Klairmont Kollections. You can go to Mapmaker to search/browse for categories, and hover over the red dots to see the streetview preview.
There's also this Chicago-centric directory of inside streetview tours which may have a venue or store that would work.

Here is a great website for finding spaces available for an hourly rental. One of the drop down menu options is for photo shoots, and I have had good luck finding a variety of cool gallery, theater, and studio spaces through the site, at a range of price points.

Response by poster: THANK YOU everyone! These are great suggestions and exactly what I was looking for! I've looked through all the options and sent them off for someone else to look over so I'm not sure which one we're going to use yet. But the ones under consideration are Salvage One (my first choice), Hotel Monaco, Chicago Athletic Association and another one I found called Soho House Chicago. And I haven't decided were to stay yet when I'm there, but I loved Acme so will probably book a room there if they're not already full.
The other places suggested are indeed gorgeous but don't look like they have semi-private areas, which is something I need for this. Thank you again, you've all been a great help!
