Help me ID an ale

In the late 90's I used to drink an ale and I'd like to drink it again... but unfortunately I can't remember its name.
Here's what (I think) I remember about it, though: It came in a skinny dark blue glass bottle (25 cl), it had a cork, there may have been gold swirly lettering on the bottle, it had a high ABV (two digits), it was most likely European (Belgian, perhaps?) and it was probably a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. I found it very interesting, but I'd like to try it again now that I'm older and wiser (well, at least I've tried a whole lot more beers since then).
You'd think I'd be able to google it, but alas... And so far I haven't been able to locate it on BeerAdvocate either. But I'm sure one of you will have the answer for me in a minute or two! Cheers!

Response by poster: YES! That's absolutely it! Thank you, thank you! So it was American, after all! And I guess I'll never have it again...

From what I remember, I think your best bet is to try some of the strong, barrel-aged beers that are pretty prevalent now. I'm really fond of Anderson Valley Huge Arker, Stone has a couple of barrel aged bottles out right now... Southern Charm and Bastard in the Rye, Firestone releases barrel-aged stuff in a brown box, like Sucaba and Parabola, Sierra Nevada has Narwhal in a barrel-aged version right now. There are a ton if you go to a well-stocked bottle shop.
If you're set on the Bock aspect, there's a barrel aged Imperial American bock called Bock Bock by Schmaltz Brewing. Never tried it, though.

Response by poster: Huck500: Great stuff, thank you! I'm in Sweden though, and those beers haven't made it to Systembolaget, from what I can see. But I'll print out your list and keep it in my breast pocket the next time I visit Akkurat, that's for sure!
More beer suggestions are always welcome!
