My wife has a very clear recollection of the following scene from a movie or TV show, but we can't figure out where it's from. The scene takes place at a 18th- or 19th-century fancy-dress party. A fop approaches a lady at the party and harasses (assaults? molests?) her. In response, the lady stabs the fop in the leg with something; my wife remembers the weapon as a small flag, but admits it might have been something else.

She had originally remembered this scene as part of The Last of the Mohicans (1992), but we just watched that this evening and this scene wasn't in it. Any thoughts on where this scene might actually have been from would be most appreciated!

Was it the film Revolution? It's set during the American Revolution and during a fancy dress party a woman stabs a man in the thigh with a hat pin.

From the imdb synopsis: The party is a very fancy affair, with white make-up and gigantic powder wigs with sculptures of castles and sailing ships in them. The women wear fancy dresses and the British officers wear dress uniforms as they sip drinks. One of the girls plays harpsichord. Another daughter flirts with a British officer. Daisy begins to flirt with the same officer until suddenly stabbing his upper thigh with a giant pin from her wig.

Response by poster: That sounds close enough to my wife's recollection that I'd be surprised if it was anything else. She has no recollection of ever seeing that particular movie, but then, almost nobody has perfect recollection of all the movies they've seen.
