Book with a song about donuts?

I can't remember the details of a book from my youth that had an infectious song about donuts in it. Can you?

I think it was a book and not a movie with an infectious song about donuts (infectious, in that a plot point was that the characters in the book couldn't stop singing it). Any idea what I'm thinking about? Not the Homer Price story about the donut machine and the bracelet.

Something about "and the hole, hole, hole"...

Best answer: OK, but could it be the Homer Price story "Pie and Punch and You-Know-Whats" ? It's a riff on the Mark Twain story "A Literary Nightmare," about another unforgettable jingle. The one about the donut machine and the bracelet is from Homer Price, while this one is from Centerburg Tales. This page tends to confirm.

Response by poster: Oh my, thank you. Been wondering about that for years - I don't have that book (but will soon!)
