I Can't Picture This

All of sudden I can't attach pictures to my tweets, and I can't find out why.
As of about a week ago, I can no longer attach photos to my Twitter tweets. I write the tweet, but when I click on the camera to attach a picture, nothing happens. I'm using a Mac desktop running OS X 10.8.5 and I've tried doing it in Safari and in Firefox. I've also checked the size and format of the pictures, and have tried various different pics. Same result. I click, or drag, to attach and nada. I've Googled around but have found nothing. Anybody out there who can solve this? Thanks.

I can't help but maybe someone else can with a bit more info. Some questions:
Does the same problem occur if you use the Twitter app or a third-party twitter app such as Echofon or Tweetdeck?
What happens if you try to tweet just a photo with no text? So before entering any text, is the camera icon still unresponsive?
Have you tried logging out of your account and logging back in? (I know, but it's low-hanging fruit)
Have you tried clearing the cache/temporary files for Safari/Firefox and running them with any extensions disabled?

If Twitter is anything like Facebook, certain functions of the site might be down for your area within a given moment. On Facebook occasionally I'll be not shown as an admin for a page I own, or messages won't be accessible for no obvious reason, photos won't load for some reason, but the rest of Facebook still works. I wonder if Twitter is the same way, where certain functions of the overall service will go down without the entire site itself going down. Typically in FB terms, the function will be restored within an hour or so..
