Best place for hockey gear on the SF peninsula?

I'm looking for good brick-and-mortar place to buy hockey gear on the San Francisco peninsula, as near to 92 as possible. I'd like to find a place with a good youth selection in addition to adult gear - I would like to have my 4 year old sized and fitted for his own pair of hockey skates in addition to picking up a pair of my own (since my parents have lost track of my high school gear!).

I know about Hockey X in Oakland, and that's basically exactly what I want but without the hour roundtrip in the car. I'd love to find a place with knowledgeable staff that can help with some advice for the four-year-old gear (including how to balance buying new skates with a kid whose feet are growing fast). Thank you!

Best answer: When I was playing in Belmont, I went to the pro-shop for my gear. It was expensive, but I got the consultation I needed.

A couple of things. If you're doing group lessons, you might want to get with other parents to see if you can buy used gear from them. Lots of folks do this with one pair of skates going between a couple of families as siblings grow, start playing, etc.

I will say that if you want to buy skates new, you can get them a bit big, and then use lambswool in the toes to make them tight.

All of that said, I'd take the trip to Oakland. Go on a weekend when it's not so trafficy. They also have packages, which the pro shop probably won't have. (They weren't cutting anyone any deals when I was buying skates.)

Ice hockey is the best sport on the planet! Have fun with the little dude!

I don't remember if they have a good selection of gear for Ice, but I bought a lot of stuff for Roller Hockey at Inline Sports in Santa Clara. It's a big store and the staff there was very helpful and the pricing was good (Pretty sure they match prices with other stores).

Still not exactly close to 92, but if you're in the south bay more often it might be easier to get to than Oakland.
