Hootsuite Help

A publication I have written for in the past is somehow posting onto my Facebook timeline using Hootsuite, as though I were making the post. I cannot figure out how to stop or block this from happening.

I have two Facebook profiles; one for personal use, and one for work.

A local publication is somehow publishing posts onto my feed (if you check the link above you'll see posts from Life as a Human; those are the ones I'm talking about).

I'm not making these posts, and I've reached out to the editor of the publication, who has no idea what is going on either.

It's through Hootsuite. I don't "Like" the publication's Facebook page, and I am not connected with the publication in any way.

I have also locked down my Facebook page - any and all posts on my Facebook Wall should now be private.

And yet the publication is still posting, and the posts are public.

This has happened in the past, and it coincides with when I use my work Facebook email with Hootsuite myself to manage client pages via Hootsuite.

However, because this has been happening again, I have removed my Facebook account from Hootsuite, and have also removed the Hootsuite app from my Facebook profile.

And yet still these posts keep appearing.

It's not a big deal exactly, but it means that I cannot reliably use this Facebook account to manage client social media via Hootsuite, which is a bit of a drag.

And I am not particularly interested in the articles that are being autoposted *by my Facebook profile itself* on my Wall.

To be clear, it's as though my Facebook profile is somehow connected to the publication's Hootsuite account.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

Have your editor (or whoever operates the publication's hootsuite account) go into Settings > Account > Profile and see if your facebook account is linked to theirs. That could be what's happening.

ALSO have them look at their "Streams" (they can get to this by clicking on Add Stream at the top of the page) and, under the Facebook tab, remove your account if it's listed there.

Response by poster: Hey thanks for the suggestions so far!

I did contact the editor but he was clueless. Wasn't even sure who or what was running Hootsuite.

It seems so weird that the publication can post on my behalf when I have never had anything to do with it.

If it isn't an authorized app, maybe changing your password will fix it. I've never used Hootsuite - is it possible it is posting using another authorized app such as Twitter?

Response by poster: It's definitely Hootsuite. I will try changing the password, thanks!
