Name that beetle!

I found this guy in the entryway of my new house this morning. What is it?

He turned up by some muddy work boots, so I think he was tracked in, and didn't come from within the house itself. Is just the sort of critter I have to get used to now, or is it some dread pest requiring visits from exterminators, arborists, and other expensive folks?

10-40 year life span. Holy cow, that's a long-lived bug.

Ivory-marked beetle, agreed. Notorious for popping out of wood furniture years down the line.
