Experiences on a cross-Borneo trek?

I've been reading up on things to do in Borneo and my guidebook has some sections about cross-Borneo treks. It sounds like it could be an amazing experience but also extremely challenging. I'd like to hear from people who have done something like this. What was your day-to-day experience? Where did you sleep at night? How bad were the leeches?

I'd also be interested in travelogues or blogs about treks across Borneo. Whether or not I end up seriously considering something like this, I'd love to hear what the experience is like.

It's from 1992 and it's been years since I've read it but Shooting the Boh by Tracy Johnston was an interesting read.
