P2PFilter: Is there a way, using Limewire for preference, to see my friends shared music folder?

I know I can browse host for files I'm downloading; can I find her on the network in some way? What I want to do is avoid burning duplicates on a CD of songs for her boy's birthday (he's a english 7 year old who's grown out of Disney - any recommendations gratefully received!)

Response by poster: BTW, I've just been told that I can do this with remote assistance in WinXP, which I can attempt. But neither of us have done that before, so i'm hoping we can do this in LW. Cheers.

do you have IM? That was always the easiest way for us to share in college. Simply o into the preferences menu and give them access to your music folder.

SoulSeek lets you add people to a friends list and browse their shared folders. I don't know Limewire well enough to know if it's possible with that program, but I think with the way the Gnutella protocol is, it'd be hard to find a particular person unless you knew their IP address.

Best answer: yes, you can directly connect to someone on limewire. i use the pro version, but i dont see why the regular version wouldnt do this also. what you need to do is:

1. start limewire
2. look at the bottom left of the screen, you'll notice 3 tabs
3. "keyword, what's new, and direct connect" pick direct connect.
4. once you click that tab, it will give you the box to type in thier ip address. if they click the same tab, it will tell them the address you need to connect to them.

that should do it. of course, if you are behind a firewall/router, you'll need to open a port and tell limewire which port to use in the options.

I haven't tried Qnext, but it looks interesting. It's private p2p networks were you set who has access.
