Good net resources/books or UK courses on vintage hair and make up?

I have a lifelong love of vintage clothes, stuff, looks.. (50's-70's mostly but can appreciate 20's-40's too). I'd like to hone some skills for doing own (long) hair and make up and/or other peoples. Even flirting with the possibility of getting some certificates and trying to do a bit of work in it at festivals etc... no idea how realistic that is. (I have no prior training). Would love to hear of any recommendations or good resources. Is there some kind of head mannequin you can practice on?! Thanks.

Head mannequins are fairly easy to come by. I've managed to locate at least 20 free heads over the course of the last few years by contacting hairdressing schools, where they seem to cycle through them fairly quickly and then toss them for no reason I can discern. (I use them for art projects.)

Sally Beauty and other such stores usually sell head mannequins. You can also buy used, vintage beauty school textbooks on Amazon.
