My daughter is creating a video of highlights from her daughter's first year. She is looking for song suggestions for the video. She loves oldies (60s-70s), current country and pop but would consider anything. What suggestions do you have?
The World Waits for You, Son Volt
In my Daughter's Eyes - Martina McBride
My Wish - Rascal Flatts
Isn't She Lovely -- Stevie Wonder
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun -- Cyndi Lauper
Upside Down -- Jack Johnson

I think MGMT's 'Kids' would be cool for this.

We have discovered that Karen Carpenter's rendition of "Desperado" goes with everything.

For a similar purpose, I used Elizabeth Mitchell's cover of Woody Guthrie's "Grassy Grassy Grass".

I really like Sunny by Jose Feliciano for this - I made a short video of my kids goofing off in the bubble bath when they were very little with a snippet of this song, it turned out great.

Really over-the-top but great: Ewan McGregor's version of Your Song from Moulin Rouge.

I'm doing something similar and am trying to decide between The Beatles' All You Need is Love or 8 days a week or Love Me Do or Queen's Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

This video has a lovely unintrusive melody that could make a perfect backdrop to a short baby highlights clip. You can convert it to mp3 here.

I've always wanted this for a similar reason.
