Song help needed : "beware the romance of exotic frontiers"

I heard a song on the radio. Male vocal over instrumental backup, more or less folk style, sort of vaguely Irish sounding in style. I can only remember two lines: "beware the romance of exotic frontiers" and "garnished the blood of a nation". Google's got nothin'. What is this song? Thanks!

Could it have been Bruce Cockburn? Sounds like his style and subject matter, though I don't recognize the lyrics.

You could try seeing if the radio station had a playlist and figure it out based on the time you heard it.
