Response by poster: No, that's not it. The song I'm thinking of is probably from the early-mid eighties, well before Bern got rolling. The lyrics that I've quoted are accurate (although I don't know how they spelled "teevee"), the only other lyrics are the names of teevee shows chanted during a chorus/bridge. And I'm not thinking of T.V. Party by Black Flag, but that'd be the right vintage. The vibe is angsty low-tech power-pop a la early xtc or the Minutemen.

Help me, AskMeFi, you're my only hope.
