Stop iPhone ios notifications for shared calendar

I subscribe to my boss' Mac calendars so I can keep up with his schedule at work, but I don't want to receive those calendar notifications on my phone. I just want to receive my own calendar notifications. Is there a way to turn off just the subscription notifications? We're using the built in Mac and ios calendar app.

In iCal, if you click Calendars, then right-click the calendar and select Get info, and check Ignore alerts, do they still show up on your phone? Can you edit individual notification prefs on your iphone?

I also have this issue, and IME the advice shared above does not work. This is an unfixed bug right now.

On your iPhone:

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Scroll all the way down. Turn off "Shared Calendar Alerts"

This is on iOS 7, but I think it's the same in iOS6 too.
