Chicago MD (GP) sought for someone with strong health anxiety issues.

I haven't had a primary care doctor in a long time and 'think it might be time for a chronic "doctor avoider" such as myself to have one. Due to obvious fear of illness, death, doctors, tests and the like I would love to find a really kind doctor with a great bedside manner who isn't averse to alternative medicine and is associated with a hospital. Thanks.

Any particular part of Chicago? Any particular insurance?

I HIGHLY recommend Mary-Anne Meyer with Northwestern Memorial Physicians group. She is a RN. In addition, Melinda Ring is a MD. Both are at the Center for Integrative Medicine.

I go to Dr. Charles F. Nadler at Northwestern Memorial (not to be confused with his son who has the same name and is an urologist at NM). He has a great bed side manner and likes to just talk to his patients, which helps make me relax. I'm not sure how he feels about alternative medicine though. He has been in practice for over 50 years and it's apparent he really loves his job.

Like TRUELOTUS, my doctor is at Northwestern Memorial Physicians group with the Center for Integrative Medicine and she is also awesome. I wonder if they are all just great there. Dr. Catherine Cheng, MD is my doc and she is definitely good about taking a holistic approach. When I needed a referral for a gynecologist, the doc she referred me to (in the same building, also with NMPG) was super great too.

I also like that the NMPG docs use the online relayhealth system, which makes it easy to email them! And they respond! It's very good for people like me that hate the phone, and might help you get over one of the hurdles that makes you avoid doctors.

mISS KAZ is right. I have trauma issues and if it weren't for Maryanne I don't know if i would have made it through a pap smear. also the rooms are so peaceful. the rooms are lilac with low light and the doors literally say calm and serenity. I REALLY hope your insurance is covered by them :)

Danuta Hoyer, a holistic GP, is absolutely terrific. You might have to wait some time to get in to see her, but she'll spend upwards of ninety minutes with you when you do. Highly recommended.
