Baseball Card/Dice Game Identification Question

Need Help Identifying a Baseball Dice/Card Game From the 80s/90s.

I am trying to identify a game that I remember from many years ago. This is a game that I have never owned, or played (so the details I have on it are very limited), but I always wanted to buy it. I only ever saw it advertised back in the late 80s and early 90s in sports magazines. I used to buy baseball card guides (Beckett’s) and other sports magazines (Inside Sports, SI, etc) and it was always advertised in one of these magazines (I think it was Beckett’s).

Since I never owned it, I can’t remember the specifics, but I really wanted to buy this game. However, since I lived in Canada, I couldn’t buy it as it wouldn’t ship to Canada. Therefore, I can’t recall if it was a card game or dice game (or both), but I do remember staring at the ads for hours on end, wishing I could buy it and play it with my friends.

The thing I remember most about this particular game was the fact that it came in a small box and for this version, there was a cardboard cut-out of EVERY major league stadium outfield fence that you placed at the back of the box for effect. I think they one they used in the ads was Fenway Park.

I did some light Googling searching and found Strat-O-Matic would seem to be the logical conclusion, but I am not sure if this is the game I am thinking about. AND, I did a lot of Google image searching, but couldn’t find an instance of Strat-O-Matic using the cardboard cutouts of the outfield fence to give a real stadium affect.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this game might have been? I am 99% positive the ad was from 1989-91ish (probably not before or much after that)...

Thanks!

I vaguely remember it... I was into baseball cards with my uncle (my dad's youngest brother is only a few months older than me) a few years prior. We kept trying to get re-interested but nothing stuck.

The most fun I remember is keeping our own scorecards during marathon sessions of Earl Weaver Baseball on his C64

I played Pursue the Pennant a bunch in high school (having "graduated" from Strat-O-Matic) and enjoyed it a lot. Never used the fence though.

The system has been turned into a computer game (which has probably subsequently evolved) called Dynasty League Baseball.
