How to shop for commercial insurance?

I want to find out how much insurance would cost for a non-standard business model. How do I get in touch with someone who would be able to take in information, agree on assumptions, and put together a quote?

This model doesn't fit into any categories like general liability, commercial vehicle, or anything like that. I need someone who will be able to make a risk assessment and come up with a quote (or at least a formula to predict a quote).

Insurance would need to cover residential property for commercial use by non-owners in Seattle, WA and NYC for starters.

I would call a commercial insurance broker (not agent) such as Barbary Insurance in San Francisco.

You're probably going to need more than one type of insurance, start by making a list of what specific types you might need.

Insurance for rented residential property used for commercial purposes will depend on what the landlord requires and how much risk you are willing to assume. This might depend on whether or not you have customers on the premises.

If you have a commercial vehicle, one of the types of insurance you need will be commercial vehicle insurance. It's not meant to be a special category that prevents you from having to buy any other insurance products.

If you aren't able to break down your insurance needs into smaller categories than "insure this big nonstandard thing", you'll end up paying far far more.
