LibreOffice Word Processor Locked Up

I have a message box on LibreOffice that says, "The last time you opened LibreOffice, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?" (The program didn't quit unexpectedly during my last use.) There are two choices to click -- Reopen and Don't Reopen. Neither one of them works. The message box can't be closed and the software won't function. Here's what I've tried:
Force quit and restart the program. Nix. Reboot the computer. Nix. There is a new version available. So, download, install, and restart. Nix. I'm using OSX 10.8.4. I don't know what version of LibreOffice I have because that info is unavailable due to this problem.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this and get back to work?
