One broken Wordpress image fixit script to rule them all?

Long story short, my Wordpress install became corrupt, and while all content and original images were saved, all of the resized custom images are gone. Is there any way I can run a plug in or some other script that will resolved all of the broken image links?

For example, if you look at this post here, you'll see a bunch of broken image links.

The very top image was:
http://creepyla.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/stitesghoststory-550x216.jpg

But that file vanished, nowhere to be found. I have other versions of the same image available, but not the one with that size.

Here's the original image:
http://creepyla.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/stitesghoststory.jpg

Throughout the site, there are hundreds, if not thousands of images, of various sizes that also vanished, but have the original file available.

Alas, is there any way to run a script that:
a. scans for broken image links.
b. detects the preferred sizing for the link based on the broken file name link (for the sample above, 550x216.
c. creates a new file based on the original image, but with the preferred size.

I am by no means a coder, or have any experience running scripts on my site, so if there is a solution, please also steer me towards how to implement... and if there is no solution besides having to go into each post and manually updating, please be blunt...

Thanks Mefites!

Try the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin!

Seconding Regenerate Thumbnails. There's also the excellent AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild for a slightly different take on the same thing.
