Cheapest device to play Yahoo Card Games (uses java).

My girlfriends computer has eaten it. We need to find a new device for her to play Yahoo Card Games on. This is really the only thing the device needs to be able to do, though streaming netflix on it might be a nice perk. I know one requirement of Yahoo is having Java installed in the browser. Thanks!

You might want to look at a Chromebook. It sounds like it would be perfect for this kind of thing with a nice price point.

Response by poster: To clarify, I am not really concerned about form factor, laptop, tablet, etc. Just the cheapest device that would allow access to Yahoo Games.

Almost anything you buy, new, at least, will meet these requirements, EXCEPT a Chromebook. They don't run Java without some serious tweaking, and that's what some Yahoo Card Games use. Get a cheap Mac or PC. A cheap one could easily be less than 300 bucks.

eBay a Windows netbook or just mention your need on your social network feeds. The odds aren't bad that some friend of yours has a weak old machine sitting around that they'd give or sell at a rock-bottom price.

Incidentally, I should have said a Windows 7 netbook. Glancing at eBay, I see a bunch running Windows CE, which is not what you want, but a few running Windows 7 look like they would be fine.

I'm on an Acer Chromebook ($199) right now. The Yahoo games work fine on this machine with absolutely zero tweaking. Specifically, I tried the Gaps Solitaire. If there are others you'd like me to try, let me know.

Response by poster: Thanks Houston, we play Euchre.

Nope, the Euchre game doesn't work. Interesting, I never noticed this before. Sorry for the false hope!

Well, I'm sitting on a second hand Compaq cq71 laptop I bought for ~$150 (I'm in Denmark)
It's running linux mint, and Euchre is running just fine. Snappy too.

My Toshiba netbook ran Java-based stuff fine but my Android tablet cares not for Java. Curious.
