how can I convert an .OMG file to .MPG in Windows XP for free? with as few steps as possible.....
Need to take some mpg clips from a movie for a PowerPoint presentation but only found the movie on bit torrent with this OMG format. It plays just fine but PowerPoint requires mpeg for inserting into presentations. I've tried using OMGtoAVI but it's not working due to error, "cannot start application because it could not find msvcr71.dll". Anyways, need a little help here....and thought of you guys :) Also, since we're at it...whats the best way to extract 5 min clips from 90 min mpg movie?

Oh and as to how to get the desired 5 minute section, use virtualdub. (You might have to use one of the "improved" versions like virtualdubmod.)

With that out of the way, you can probably just rename it to .avi and use tmpgenc. The renaming works because tmpgenc just relies on the installed codecs and splitters to open the input file anyway, so as long as you have OggDS installed that operation will succeed.
If the above does not work, you can repack the file in the AVI container format, and then convert that with tmpgenc.
