Housing Coops in Portland

Could someone point me in the right direction to find out about any housing coops in Portland, Oregon? I've done the requisite Google search, and all I seem to be finding looks more like commune than coop.

Some friends of mine that live in Portland have a baby coming and are looking for new living options; an apartment-style coop would likely fit their needs the best, but they're still new enough to the city not to know where to look.

As far as I know, the Portland Housing Collective is the only structured co-op in town, and like most of the shared housing in Portland, it's more of a communal thing than an apartment-style co-op.

Perhaps try searching for a community or intentional community or co-housing. I don't know how common the term 'co-op' is for housing?

A quick Google found this.

...also, please be aware that a "commune" is a group of people that share income/financial responsibilities -- very different from a group of people, or "community."

I used to live in an intentional community and I still get very activated when people call it a commune and project all of their own internal story and perceptions about communism on people chosing to live together in a powerful fashion.

Response by poster: I currently live in an intentional community, as well (termed in my city a "housing co-op). When I say "communal style" [not commune] I define it as any place where you have to share a bathroom with other adults you are not necessarily sleeping with, ala roommate communal living. Thans for the link, dhammala, based on what I'm finding, however, it looks like Portland proper doesn't have somethng that would work for this couple.
