Can you identify the crochet stitch in this item?

I would love to know so I can make a cushion for myself!

Thanks so much!

It looks like they're putting a few chain stitches between each stitch in the base of the fabric (probably single crochet?). The chain stitches get packed up and form the loops you see there.

Response by poster: Stephanie, this is what the backside would look like (different cushion) with this technique, does that still sound right for what you suggest?

^ I still see the same photo--do you have a different link?

Best answer: Thanks for the link! It looks like they're working a base of double crochet, with maybe 4-5 chain stitches between each stitch. Don't skip any stitches in your base chain--the tightly packed base stitches are what cause the chain stitches to bunch up and form those loops. I would do something like:

Make a base chain of your desired width + 3 ch.

Every row: Skip first dc, *dc, ch5* to last stitch. Work last dc, ch3, turn.

Response by poster: Stephanie - I'm going to try this, and whenever I sit on this cushion I will think of you :P

Thank you!!

Maybe the bumps are picots? Ch 3 or 4, turn, sc back down the chain.

Okay, never mind the picots. I looked at this photo and it's even more clear it is loops, not picots.

Haha--Memail me if you have any more questions!

Definitely some sort of bobble stitch. It seems pretty close to the one used for these flowers.

Could you comment on the Flickr picture and see if the owner will share her crocheting tricks with you?
