Canadian area code/rate centre VoIP DIDs

VoIP: How much should I really be paying for Canadian DIDs in major metro areas? Currently paying $2/mo for US numbers and $5/mo for Canadian.
My current VoIP provider is $2/month for US DIDs and $5/month for Canadian. Any area code, any location, any rate centre. How much should I really be paying for Canadian DIDs? Is there anyone out there doing US-like $2 rates?
The voip deployment in question requires a 1:1 ratio of direct incoming numbers to hardphones (Yealink SIP-T22P).
