Safari RSS not updating some feeds

Why doesn't Safari RSS automatically update some of my feeds?

I am running OS X 10.4.2. Most of my RSS feeds (I only subscribe to 20 or so) update normally and on schedule. Several of my feeds though (specifically Arts & Letters Daily, Tom Dispatch, and the Nation) refuse to automatically update or only do so once a week or so. If I click on the feed manually and refresh, the new articles appear.

I run Safari for long periods of time, but I usually restart it once or twice a day, so it's not a matter of a slow connection. My other feeds are fine and I didn't uncheck the "automatically retrieve updates" option. The feeds, when refreshed manually, appear quickly, it doesn't seem to be a matter of server time outs or incorrect coding. Arts & Letters Daily and The Nation worked fine on my old news reader (I only recently subscribed to Tom Paine Dispatch).

Any suggestions?

I dunno, but my del.icio.us bookmark never seems to update properly, either.

I had no idea Arts & Letters Daily had a feed. A year ago I pestered their webmaster to create one.

Thank You!

I figured out that if I have syncing turned on with .Mac for my bookmarks then the RSS numbers do NOT up date. The minute I turn off the synchronization with .Mac, it works perfectly!
