Help me find no contract internet in NYC

Help me find no-contract home wireless internet for an apartment in the NYC area! Preferably, it would be reliable and have no throttling. It must be able to be dropped with a month's notice, as we are planning to move soon. Details complicate, as always.

Snowflake: We are currently living in an older family apartment, so they may need to set up infrastructure. This apartment has no current cable, and may not have current landline wiring.

I know the internet is full of offers, but some of them look really sketchy, and I'd love to have some MeFite experience to sort them out.

Please help! I am going crazy without internet at home, and using my smartphone to unhealthy degrees.

Best answer: Clear? I know a few people who have it and they have been happy with the service.

Response by poster: I have t-mobile on my smartphone, but am really unhappy with it, as they practice throttling. It's insufficient for the amount of internet usage I generally practice, and would be fully insufficient for what I'd want.

I should clarify-it doesn't have to be traditional over-the-cellular waves internet, I just would like it to permeate the house, so that we don't have to be pinned down to one location in one room.

How fast is Clear generally?

Best answer: Right now speedtest says 2.20 Mb/s.

Of course it does vary, I've had speeds as low as .44 Mb/s, but it averages 1.5. I've been with Clear over 2 years now and am quite pleased with the service. No throttling and if they have a cap I've never found it.

Bonus, depending on where you are moving, you can take it with you.

Response by poster: Thanks all! I have it, and it is working fine for me. Multiple connections are a bit tough, but this is way better than I expected. Hurrah for MeFi.
