Stop filling up my email inbox with AOL chats

I've recently started using AOL Instant Messenger very frequently at work. (FOR work! I swear!) My username is my email address. AOL now frequently (though not always) sends my IM conversations to my email, which is filling up my inbox. How do make this stop?

AIM is functionally being phased out - there won't be any more updates to the software. I would expect more bugs and less support. If you can switch do a different messaging service, do so.

Response by poster: It's not so much a bug as a setting that I can't find.

Anyways, it's what everyone uses. Most convenient.

Are you using the AOL client? You may want to switch to something like Pidgin (not sure which client to recommend for OSX) and see if it still happens.

Response by poster: Yeah, using the AOL client.

I'm on Windows (7 usually). I'm on various computers at this point in time, and because AIM is installed on all of them, I want to continue using it for now rather than try something new on every computer I use (none of which are personally mine).

If all else fail, you could add a rule to your inbox that automatically transfers these AOL emails to another folder or the trash.
