Blogfilter: I've been asked to monitor blogs for mentions of our company. I don't have a budget to hire a company to do this...

So I'm on my own. Thus far it's been frustrating and pointless since there are approximately 76 gajillion blogs with little to no content beyond what the author had for lunch and pictures of their pets.

I'm looking for blogs that cover electronic payment software in the B2B space, banking specifically. Any leads?

Create a watchlist on Technorati for your business name and for the payment software in business to business.

Add PubSub to your list of tools too.

Add the blog tab to the Clusty.com search engine by clicking on customize. Then select the blog tab and do a search for your company name. Clusty will search just blogs.

Also Blogdigger. That, Technorati, Feedster, Daypop, and PubSub, all have RSS capabilities. You can save some searches as RSS feeds, load them in an RSS reader, and check them once a day. Easy-peasy.

To amplify the Google Alerts: it does alerts for new web-based content, but it's not very good: new alerts tend to come for old content and it's not blog-specific, so you'll be more likely to get any old web page rather than blogs.

BusinessWeek ran an article on blog-search tools.
