US sized crib mattress in UK

Does anyone know a place in UK to buy a standard american sized crib mattress?

We need to buy a new mattress for our son's crib, which we brought over from US. I've found places in UK that will custom make mattresses to size, which we ended up doing, but we haven't been happy with the mattress. So what I'm hoping to find is a standard, factory made, name brand US sized crib mattress. I've googled quite a bit on this with no luck. And US based shops don't seem to ship them to UK, I guess because of the size. Does anyone perhaps know of a UK based shop that specialises in hard to find US baby related items such as this?

I'd suggest trying eBay - and if the UK version is no good, some of the US sellers would probably be happy shipping to the UK if you're happy to pay whatever the shipping rates turn out to be. Have you tried Babies R Us? They must source a lot of their stuff direct from the US parent company and maybe chatting to the manager of your local store may make him/her willing to make some inquiries.

Other than that, I am about as certain as possible that somewhere in the US is an online kids shop that is willing to mail a mattress to you. Make yourself a form email of a couple of lines (short and sweet) and email as many as you can find. I find that the small mom 'n' pop small-town stores who happen to have a small web site are more willing to consider this than the bigger stores.

Do you have any friends or relatives in the US or Canada? Could they ship you a mattress?
