I'm new to Tumblr. Which are the best Tumblrblogs to follow, particularly in the realms of literature/arts/film/tv/comics/culture, science fiction, stand-up comedy and comedy podcasting, lefty politics, and MetaFilter-style "potpourri"? Thanks in advance.

Response by poster: Interests range from the highest academic pretension to fandom and dumb memes. Really just looking to sample all the wonders Tumblr has to offer...

Letterheady (scans of vintage letterhead) and Scanwiches (scans of...sandwiches), and Unhappy Hipsters (snarking about architecture magazine photography) are Tumblr stars.

Generally if you go to a common tag on Tumbr, such as art, they have a widget on the right to browse "featured" and "popular" posts - probably a good way to find a few things, if you haven't tried that yet. Metafilter also has a "tumblr" tag with some great posts to mine.

And my friend and I write one! It's about math-art projects. Linked in my profile.

Best answer: Some of mine:

Mapstalgia : People redraw video game maps from memory
Things could be worse: An excellent web comic (womic?) with a Victorian aesthetic yet a very modern sense of humour.
French cuisse: a learning chef posts two photos for every post: the ingredients and the finished product. Remarkable.
Kim Jong Ill Looking at Things
Things organised neatly
One Thing Well: Apps that do one thing well.
Daily Seinfeld
Garfield Minus Garfield
Clients from Hell

The Daily What is excellent.

There's also Tumblr's explore page for finding more.
