insurance for hearing aids?
Anyone have an insurance option they can recommend for hearing aids?
My homeowners policy is one option. The audiologist recommended ESCO. Are there others I should consider?
ESCO is what my mother's audiologist recommended as well. She scraped in just under the loss warranty from her last purchase.
Check whether your state mandates coverage.

If you have access to a Costco, you should consider buying your hearing aids through them. They are significantly cheaper than retail, and have a return and support policy that is unmatched by anyone. Example: if you lose or damage your hearing aids, they will replace them free of charge (the first time - after than you are on your own).
Disclaimer: I don't have any relationship with Costco outside of being a very satisfied customer.

Response by poster: Thank you. I will add the replacement one to the homeowner's policy and when the manufacturer coverage runs out on the other one, I will probably move both to ESCO. I haven't found many reviews for the company but the BBB rating is excellent.

If it's the first scenario, I'd look at a personal articles policy. I have one for my camera equipment from State Farm. A google search indicates that Traveler's and Allstate offer this as well. You'd have to talk to an agent about whether hearing aids could be covered.
