Hi, i will be working with a group of woman in Jaipur, India later in the year that creat handly crafts, the woman farm or 4 months of the year and in the off season are tough basic handicraft techniques to create income.
I trying to find out what these woman farmers produce from the land.
Does anyone know what Is grown and farmed in the area around Jaipur.
And if you look at the Rajasthan Department of Agriculture's site, they give you a list of each crop and the top producing districts. Jaipur District is listed for several of them.

I was wondering if the ag. department stats might be a bit misleading if the women are mainly subsistence farming - Googling with that in mind found this paper (PDF) on cropping patterns in various regions of India that suggests Jaipur was traditionally a pearl millet / wheat growing area but that the millet may now have been substituted by many for higher-earning cash crops. Despite my initial concern above, I see that fits with the Dept, of Ag. link bardophile gives in that latter comment.

Do you know if they live in Jaipur city or are migrants coming up from the nearby villages during the off season?
a) Rajasthan has many nomadic tribes
b) Here are photos of villages, fields, women and their handicrafts from a region within migrant reach of Jaipur (many go to the city to sell their stuff or during off season for income)
c) and some links to life in this rural area (from the pov of income and household management) that may be of relevance to what you are asking. [links might be bad so please don't hesitate to memail me if you'd like the rajasthani user research files]
It should also give you an idea of what Rajasthan is mostly like.
