Help me identify this song from 1992-93 from some half-remembered lyrics!
Back in 1992-93 I was listening to a local "alternative" radio station (COAST Radio, Vancouver MeFites might remember them). There was a song that received semi-regular airplay, and I quite liked it, but for some reason I never caught the name of the band or even the song title. The song featured two singers, male and female, with a sort of "alterna-pop" sound if you know what I mean.
I've plugged whatever lyrics I still remember into Google, which has worked in other cases, but this time I've come up empty. Some samples:
"There was a burst, just an incredible burst / Out to the inside, into the outside..."
"Hey mamama, hey mamama, something's going on..."
Does that tweak any memories?

Nope, the song was more up-tempo than that. Closer to "Shiny Happy People" - but not that, either.

You say 92-93 and a male and female singer and my mind goes straight to The Beautiful South. I don't have my CD out, so I can't check, but they did have a really good album out that year: 0898 Beautiful South.
According to that article, "Old Red Eyes is Back", "We Are Each Other", "Bell Bottomed Tear", "36D", and "We Are Each Other" were released as singles all over the place.

How about "What's Up?" by 4 Non-Blondes? The lyrics don't really match, but...

Best answer: It sounds like you're thinking of Burst by Shelleyan Orphan.
