Civil Service Summaries

Looking for short PDFs summarising topics relevant to UK politics, probably posted to Metafilter in the last couple of years. These were produced by civil servants or advisors to explain the broad concepts of a topic (e.g. Nuclear power) to a politician in just a few pages. Thanks.

Best answer: Is it these House of Commons Briefing Papers that you're looking for? They're not written by civil servants but by Researchers in the House of Commons Library.

Best answer: You might also find the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technolgy (POST) publications of use. Theser set out the gist of scientific issues in handy 4 page booklets.

And the Australian Parliamentary Library's publications include similar papers (including short research papers, among other things). They also have a blog for shorter-form articles.
