Who Don't I know About?

Help me make the most of my Spotify mobile account! I need some recommendations along these lines: Melodic or moody rock, with an epic feel and poetic lyrics, along the lines of Angels and Airwaves and 30 Seconds to Mars.

I prefer "accessible" music (at least for my work day) rather than "you have to listen a dozen times, but then it's really good!" Some of my favorite bands (besides those mentioned) are Pink Floyd, U2, Queen, Muse, Something Corporate, and Green Day. This may also be helpful: despite the overlap of talent, I'm not crazy about Blink-182. Good music but a lot of the lyrics are on the juvenile side, which can ruin it for me. (But hey, I'm 50 years old!)

Could be a total miss here, but for some reason I read your post once and immediately remembered Dark Star.

My Chemical Romance. Nothing is more epic than the Black Parade. Danger Days is their latest. Both these albums had me the first time I listened.

Nine Inch Nails, The Used (generally more alternative, but they have some softer stuff, too), Seether, Shiny Toy Guns, Taking Back Sunday, Anberlin, and Breaking Benjamin all come immediately to mind.

Were I to go hunting through my iTunes, I'd have a bunch moreā€”but if I wrote them all, I'd probably take over 80% of your page with my answer.
