I need some help as a new recruiter in the staffing industry! Help me get caught up!

I just got a great job in the staffing world as a Recruiter / Account Executive / Possible Branch Manager. I have the new client sales, customer service, relationship development piece down pat, but I need to get up to speed on recruiting / placement.

What are some great resources here? What is a good read for understanding the recruiting and placement process (I.E. getting good candidates)? Are there any essential 'Must Read' books, blogs or white papers for the staffing industry as there are for Marketing and Management?

What are your tricks?

*Bonus points if you can provide resources or tips on recruiting / placing Finance and Accounting candidates, too!

Long time recruiter talking ...

If the firm that hired you is not already supporting you by providing the training you seek, this may not be the "great job" you think it is.

Sorry to be so blunt.

Best answer: Quietly shadow the most successful person in your office for a day. (Stay out of his/her way, those people are on the phone and won't appreciate being asked to explain what they're doing, but you'll see what's involved.) Certain word tracks will come up again and again.
