How can I get prints made of jpeg photos

I have some jpeg photos sent to me by friends that I would like to high quality prints of to be framed. How would I go about doing this?

The first question is, how large are the computer files you have? This will limit how big the prints can be. Are the files something like 200k, or more like 3 Mb, or larger than that?

Take them to any place with a photo shop and get them printed. Put the original shots on CD and you're set.

snapfish will print your photos and send them to you, cheap. When you upload your .jpg, their software will automatically determine how large a print they can make based on the quality of your file. It's not always 100% perfect - you might get a blocky print back. But it's really cheap, so why not try.

LobsterMitten's question is very relevant.

There is nothing wrong with jpg as a format. You can get extremely large, high-quality prints made from jpgs, assuming you have extremely large, high-quality jpgs to start with.

A semi-useful rule of thumb is that you need jpgs over about 1 MB to really bother printing at any but the smallest sizes. If you want 8x10 or larger, you're going to need files 3-6 MB and up. Here's more on the basics of printing resolution.

You can print jpgs virtually anywhere that you can print photos. Just bring them in on a stick or a CD, as mentioned.

What hamandcheese said. Also, many photo printing places have websites where you can upload the files and purchase prints (to be picked up in-store or mailed back to you), in case you don't have a stick or don't want to fuss with CDs.

Costco's pretty good as well.

Walgreens, CVS, and WalMart offer this service at most locations. My grandmother is blown away that I take pictures with my iPhone when we visit, upload them to Walgreens with an app, then pick them up an hour later. That is the future to her.
