Late Night Tacos, East Hollywood / Los Angeles. Where?
I'm doing one a short stint in LA for the next week that leaves me coming home and often hungry around midnight. In other words, I require tacos, and something in the (East) Hollywood area would be walkable and therefore preferred.
Can anyone beat the Mission Cantina on Sunset?

Trucks.
I think of Mission Cantina as a bar, but not really for food.
And never let anyone catch you referring to Hollywood as the Eastside. Just sayin'.

Best answer: You need to go to Midnight Tacos/El Gran Burrito at Santa Monica and Vermont. Open 24/7, really great food, not just tacos but good mole and a whole bunch of other stuff. The quality of the meat is amazing for the price, and the salsa bar with the pickled carrots is neat.

There are a few taco trucks that are usually open late near the intersection of Western and Fountain. There is also a bacon wrapped hot dog stand in front of Little Temple (Virgil/Santa Monica) on busy club nights. There is a red and white van that sets up something that smells delicious (thought I've never tried it) on Santa Monica near Madison. For really delicious afternoon fish and shrimp tacos, check out Ricky's Fish Tacos across the street from Von's on Virgil. He tweets his hours.

Response by poster: Trucks are fine, of course, (I shoulda said that) but which trucks are best helpful info, so great suggestions so far, thanks.

Best answer: Los Tacos is open 24/7 (I think, certainly until the wee hours) and is pretty awesome!
West Hollywood, SMB and Hayworth. Right next to the 7/11. (sorry, I know it's not quite exactly in your 'hood, but their food is great! well worth the mention.)

If you want opinions, I'll say that I found El Gran Burrito to be unremarkable, but plentiful. I've not tried the truck that parks in the gas station at Fountain and Western, but I've been to El Matador (the truck a block or 2 south on Western) and enjoyed it. And now because of this post I'm going to go get some tacos from Ricky's.

I _think_ Cactus Tacos on Vine open until 2am, though that may only be on weekends. They are some of the best tacos in Hollywood. (the best are at Tere's Grill on Melrose, but they close early)
You could try Loteria Grill on Hollywood, somewhat more "upscale" but just as delicious as their Farmers Market institution.
Macho's Tacos is open late, but not very good. It is more East than the other two suggestions though.
Another sit-down option might be El Chavo (or is it El Cholo, I can never remember) off Sunset just past Vermont.
Lots of trucks out that way too. Try: lataco.com

Response by poster: El Gran Burrito was great, thanks crabby.
I'll check out some of the other suggestions as time allows and Best Answer as appropriate.
