I'm going to Poland on a trip... now what? Where can I travel OUTSIDE of Poland?
I'll be arriving in Poland on the 24th of June and need to know what three guys with an average age of 29 should do. Two of the guys speak fluent Polish (one lives in Warsaw) and the other guy (me) is American.
We need to be back in Warsaw by the 6th or 7th of July, but pretty much can travel anywhere outside Poland that is accessible by cheap flight or train, we will not be driving.
So with that said, we are all active guys and like to hike, and do adventure type stuff. We eat anything and love to drink and party. We need to be back in Warsaw for a party on the 6th, but want to take a nice trip that puts us outside of Poland for the time in between. That leaves 12 days for us to bum around the outskirts of the country.
We will have roughly $1,000 to spend on room and board and we will be backpacking (but not camping). We are up for whatever, and while we do want to hit up a beach or two, the idea of staying at a beach for a week sounds like hell.
Any ideas? We would entertain package-type trips in a surrounding country if there was a cool one we could take!
If you need more info from me, just ask.

Also, in terms of partying, Prague has lots of clubs and fun bars. I recommend Klub Ujezd for a hip, locals-oriented place with lots of live music. Karlovy Lazne is the mecca of all capital C Clubs, with something like 5 floors of deafening house music. I never went myself, but if that's your bag then definitely check it out.
Hungarians are generally less defeatist and much friendlier than Czechs (broad strokes) and we found that they loved talking to Americans at bars and restaurants. We had more of a "long nights drinking wine with local Hungarians" experience than a craaaaaaaazy party experience, but there was lots of dancing and very funny conversations. It's still fairly cheap to eat and drink there, too.
Another obvious city to visit is Berlin, which has an insane amount of stuff to do and see, nightlife-wise and cultural-wise, but I'll let more experienced people to offer specific advice.

I would suggest Budapest and Vienna; they're both only about 350 miles from Warsaw and less than 150 miles from each other, so you could easily work in both. Lots of hiking in and around Vienna, as well (though if memory serves it's more of the day hiking variety and less the intense adventure variety), and crazy-good food and drink.

Lviv is the cultural capital of the Ukraine, lovely with lots of student life, and very different from Poland.
Also I know you're asking about OUTSIDE but I can't resist: in Warsaw is a museum dedicated to the Warsaw uprising. Go! It's possibly my single favorite museum going experience. Basically the museum walks you through the uprising day by day. The exhibits are very visual and beautifully designed.

Go hiking in the Tatra Mountains. They are on the border between Poland and Slovakia. Rugged, wild, beautiful country.
