People who live in Melbourne, Victoria (are you out there?). I need a recommendation for a women's hairdresser in the Fairfield/Alphington/Clifton Hill/North Fitzroy area.

Not sure if heading into Carlton would be an option. I've been going to Avia170 (Flash) for years. It's a good crew. and it's only an additional 10 minute's walk down Elgin street from Brunswick St in Fitzroy. There are a number of other hairdressers in the area as well. I don't have any personal experience with hairdressers in Fitzroy area. HTH.

I'm guessing that Northcote couldn't be too far out of your way given the suburbs you've mentioned. Salon Duval is opposite the Westgarth Cinema and it gets a hearty thumbs up from my wife, but the adds this stern caveat: ask for Fab. Trust no-one else.
You'd think that after 10 years of marriage I wouldn't notice haircuts any more, but lemme tell you, the man is a magician. So it gets a thumbs up from me as well.

I'd had some terrific haircuts from Mien on Queen's Parade, Clifton Hill. I've not been for a couple of years, though.

I have friends who have been going to Barberella on Gertrude St, Fitzroy, for years and have always been happy with them.

You might like to try Raymond at Kobu in Smith St Fitzroy. Very sad when he left my current salon but yay for him starting up his own. The only reason I didn't follow was because I get 50% off due to family ties.
